EshOne’s Latin-flavored side project, Don Valdez, is gaining incredible amounts of recognition since the debut of the Don Valdez Project last month. Aside from Don’s Tijuana Bass, which can be summed up by the accurate words of The P Man, “It’s a smart and incredibly infectious fusion of dubstep bass at 140 bpm with horns and riffs from all over Latin America. And yes, it reliably causes the ladies to flock to the dancefloor en masse and shake what their mama’s gave them,” Don Valdez has been creating tracks which fall under the Moombahton title. Seeing as Moombahton has quite a bit more history than Tijuana Bass, we turn to a good friend of Elk, TheMixster.com, who offers an educated perspective on the question:

Carlos Zentella, better known as Lank, has been a driving force in the breaks and bass music scenes across the Southwest corner of the US for over a decade. This San Diego native came on the scene in 1997 with a blistering attack of electro breakbeats, drum & bass, and eventually dubstep. Most recently landing in New Mexico, he has been working both as a promoter and artist. Lank has built a reputable following in the southwest of America with unparalleled dance floor control, impeccable taste, and an ear for the underground.
Burqueton sees Lank bringing forth a blend of tropical and southwest flavored house, midtempo, as well as a few special surprises.

Sebby Frescoe crosses genres and cultures to create mutant hybrid bass music. He derives his low endinfused flavor from a wide spectrum of reverberating sounds and influences. Echoes of dub, jungle, hip hop, techno and a vast array of traditional and non-traditional music resonate throughout his sonic landscape. Earth-shaking, dance floor moving riddims and atmospheric sub-bass minimalism fuse with organic instrumentation and crisp synthetic frequencies to define Sebby Frescoe’s unique and exciting sound.

With Moombahton making tidal waves across the international EDM scene, it makes perfect sense to create a movement and sound based in ALBUQUERQUE. Most of you have been to Burque Bass parties before. You have seen and understand what a great community we have in front of us. Take all of this local love, as well as some extremely talented producers, and combine these with one of the few USA based electronic music movements, and we can make something really special happen. We would love for BQ to come out and dance, have fun, and most of all, represent that we ARE an amazing scene in the southwest and in the US in general.
